Default Basic SEO Guide

  • Keyword Competitiveness should also be analyzed before you choose the domain. Do not tend to buy domains that may have a trade mark problem.
  • Use different descriptive title tags on all of your web pages to show what the page is about.
  • META description tag is the very important tag, search engines take website description through this tag, though search engines don’t give any importance to this tag in their ranking algorithms . This tag is helpful in leading relevant traffic to your site.
  • Content is the king so concentrate on content development. Write your pages for people, not for search engines. Avoid duplicate content pages.
  • Build a site map. Sitemaps help navigate large, complicated sites by showing its entire structure.
  • Use a robots.txt file to block unwanted pages from being indexed.
  • Use anchor links rather than hyperlinks. Anchor link is a little different from a hyperlink, a hyperlink directs to a complete webpage but anchor link directs to a specific area of a particular webpage.

Good advice, although I noticed you got the top line of text from one of your blog posts. Try not to paste pre-written text in here, we want to avoid any duplicate content if possible

I see some duplicate content from here too. Portions of it of course.

The sitemap tip is really important. A few months back, I tried a test with two WP blogs. One had the sitemap plugin and the other didn't. The SE traffic was quite different.

Please show me one post that I copy and pasted. I'm sorry, but I am utterly offended by your comment that I did, when copy and pasting is something that I frown upon a lot.

I'm sorry if I offended you in anyway. I just read a couple of those exact tips before, which is why I wondered. Of course, portions of it. Cool mate? Anyhow, again, great tips!

I see my mistake there buddy. I've fixed it.

Yeah, we should keep it cool. Again, I didn't mean to offend you in anyway. It was just a tip that I read recently, and when I read the thread, I remembered reading it somewhere, which is why I just asked. No harsh feelings. I'm always looking to learn and fix my mistakes, so in the post you mentioned, yes I did add some more resources to make SEO Bum a tad bit better.

Static, I never have harsh feelings towards anyone . Everything is part of the game . I just post my threads after referring blogs and resources but will never post thread as copy and paste . If you want Google to trace all your pages it is just easy to submit the sitemap rather than submitting each page individually . Robots.txt also gives a few instruction to robot crawlers .Try to place a robots.txt file in the root folder of your website FTP .

I have few domains that are very close to other popular domains..
Will they sue me if my site gets popular???

Better make sure that you are not running the business with the same brand name and also make sure you are not into same business area . The same name of popular domains is not much of a problem as long as their are .net , .biz etc domains available . I think so do check with experts .
