how many you owned forums and how much you are generating revenue from them and how .I owned one forum due to some reasons i stopped and i didnt made any money from the forum but still it is online because i dont want to sell

Well you can probably use adsense or sell your private advertising space for banners.

I never ran a forum, but my ideas of making money from a forum would be link selling and CPM ads.

I'd use CPM ads and/or advertising space sales. I doubt i'd use PPC ads unless it was just below the first post (like you see on many forums).

I did with adsense after first post but i didnt concentrated those days.for space sale we need to get pr5 and good alexa rank anyway thanks for your suggestions but did any body got more clicks placing on different areas

You don't need to have PR5 at all, ad space is much more about the number of impressions than anything else.

Selling ad space to show an ad for 50,000 impressions on your forum for example is a great idea (kinda like CPM, but missing out the middle man).

I didnt earn much from my forum. Not enough for a payout, so not really anything at all.
I think it was about $30 revenue from adsense. I should of taken a CPM approach, haha.

have you sold any space for banners etc I have seen many forums doesnt get advertisers but i dont know may be for their price.I am looking to relaunch with new posts members etc

I havn't personally, because I don't own a forum (well until a few days ago).

But I know people who have.

If people arn't buying ad space then put some affiliate banners up on rotation or something, that usually gets it going.

yeah that is true but this people comes up with $$$$ to spend Ill try affilitate programs and see i did adbrite but nothing got for impressions though alexa was very bad above 3 lakhs

Adbrite?

Use things like Bluehost, and themespinner advertisements in a banner rotation. Then have an extra one saying "Advertise here" making it clickable to a page or topic on your forum explaining how much it is, and terms etc.

Adbrite and Bluehost are two different things. I only see bluehost working on some particular niches.
An "Advertise here" is a good idea, if you get good traffic.

I know they are different things. I was giving different ideas of things to add. It is possible to make a rotating advert from an Adbrite advert, and then an affiliate advert, and then an "Advertise Here" link. Just takes some simple Ajax knowledge, or other language, depending on what language you wish to use for the banner rotation.

AJAX is a bit much to use for a simple script like that. PHP (if your site is PHP/MYSQL driven) would be the best option, all you would need is a table in your database of the banner ads, then randomize it using SQL.

Then you should do some experimenting, advertising, and find traffic which is about your forum, who may want to advertise on your site which has relevant content.

I think adsense is made for forums!! Even if you have 20 active users you can make 300 per month provided you have decent posts not spam. I am trying to own a forum but I have been in pagalguy.com I think you must heard about that site they make 10000 every month only from adsense

Well I never heard for them before.

That is a really nice amount of money for one site.Hope I will get there one day.
