Default Directory Submissions

A very useful way of gaining some easy back links is through directory submissions. This is a much debated topic of if it helps at all or not, but I will guarantee you that it does. I have done a couple of sites testing this theory that the only back links come from free directories and the sites rank well. So that theory is BS.

But I will say that it doesn’t help a bunch. Since most of the links you will get are all from non related sites it doesn’t carry much weight at all. I know your probably thinking that the page the link is on is related, well sorry to say it really doesn’t matter.

Automatic Directory Submission Software

There is software out there that will do all the work for you. You enter in the site and it will submit everything for you. This includes choosing the category, filling out the form, bypassing the captcha, ect. I only have one word for you that want to use this, NO.

www.lazyseo.com (the best at what they do)

Semi-Automatic Directory Submission Software

Here is the way to go. Software that will automatically fill out the form for you but still allowing you to choose the category for each submission and letting you do the captcha. I know some people will disagree with me saying “manual is the only way to go”. Well those people are just uneducated on how the software works. Save yourself some time and use these if your planning on doing mass submissions, its just as effective and saves time.

www.digixmas.com (the best at what they do)

Manual Directory Submissions

Boring as hell and the results aren’t different from semi-automatic. Only use if you cant afford the software.

Myth

You should do directory submissions slowly or you will get penalized. That is complete BS and anyone spreading that junk needs to give up their web mastering license. In order to receive any type of penalty you need to have 1,000s of links appear in a very short amount of time. That’s not possible with directories.

Here’s why. Say you submit to 1,000 directories in one day. Now you need to wait for all of them to review the site which can take weeks or months. After that you need to wait for Google to find the link which can take weeks or months. So by doing 1,000 submissions in 1 day your links are going to be spread out by several months. Its stupid to think mass directory submissions will hurt you.

For the most effect vs time, only submit to relevant niche directories.

Here’s some free directory lists that get updated frequently.

Hey Aaron.

I just wanted to thank you for that information. It seems everywhere you go, they all give you different information about what is good and bad about directory submissions. I have always been skeptical about different services people offer and how it will actually effect your ranking. Thanks for the tips man.

Tom

Very well explained aaron, i appreciate your views.

One more way of escaping from penalty is to use multiple anchor texts if you are planning to submit a 1000 / day. But we very well know that not all links are goin to get approved same day, but prevention is better than cure .

I am alwyas in favour of manual submissions due to many reasons which i had explained in deatail in my article "Are Directory Submissions Useful?"

Info Vile Silencer and semiautomatic submissions are the way to go if you're looking to do some submissions for your sites. Exactly. Going steady with like 10 a day is a complete BS. However, personally, I keep my directory submissions to about 20-30 a day for each of my sites just to avoid directory submission burnout. :P

With the term "manual submission" i used doesnt mean that you fill every individual form with copy paste, infact you can use tools like roboform and so.

I always use Autofill plugin of Firefox to do that. Its semi automatic and very easy to use. The only thing is you have to make a good list of directories...

cheers

When you post in a forum, a general or webmaster. Lot of people having diff. sig. link some have casino and some have absolute porn, you might be also having your site in your sig. link.

Is that doing bad for you are you going to stop posting in those threads where members are having casino or porn site in their sig. link.

Thumbs up

Well If that is the case, I will not have links in my signature. LoL

I will definately don't want my sites to be under bad neighbourwood. But I will not continuing posting and I know that would be an impossible case on q quality forum scenario (a link on a casino forum for a casino related site works very well).

We all know why are directories set up and which can easily be link farm when the directory owner becomes greedy. So it is really your common sense at discretion.

I hardly ever seen porn in sig links. Never on DP, or any marketing forum. Only in gaming forums and so on.

Yeh, but I mean for spam purposes. They won't care about being banned.

Example: Viagra Selling accounts.

Unless they can put on a sig when hey join the forum, they wouldn't do that. DP requires a few posts and a week of being a member if I remember.

I hope this is true. Ive been submitting like crazy to Directories and I am hoping over time this will help with backlinks and also some extra traffic to my site.
