Default The Ideal amount of words for blog posts?

This totally depends on the site in which you have.

If your posts have an image in them, it is recommended to have around 250 words included with your blog post to describe the image and then continue with the blog post. A maximum of 500 is recommended.

If your post does not contain an image, a total of 750 words maximum is recommended.

This is to allow search engines to be able to search your site, and then follow on to the other parts of the site, such as the footer, without loosing themselves in the site. Yep, it happens to the bots, as they are gathering your words to match search results of sentences and questions within posts and so on.

Thoughts?

I heard that it is good to keep your post between 500-1000 words.

Less than 500 isn't good for the search engines and if you have a 1000+ words article it can be pretty annoying for the visitors.

I personally hate 1000+ articles.

Sometimes it is required, especially if it is a guide and you are giving step by step details, but if it is a general post about something, such as a site or service, then yes I agree it should not exceed 1000 words at any time.

Well if it is a step-by-step guide for something number of words don't matter because you can't cut the post and exclude some important steps.

You can use more tag for articles more than 1000 words. Infact customised more tags can get you better SEO. But I rarely write articles with 600 or more words. I usually write 400 to 500 words article. May be I should rethink thanks for the headsup. Now I have another thing to worry about

Nah 600 is fine, you don't need to worry about capping them by 100 words. Just be sure its good content and not content that isnt required, and then add lots of relevant keywords.

Nope My articles are not 600 Words its rather 400 to 500 words. With use of 2 to 3% keywords gets me very high on SERPs until now as the competition has no clue about SEO

Just keep bolding important words to tell search engine bots that they are keywords, and then they will help you in the SERPs for that keyword, just be sure the words you are bolding match the keywords in your META keywords.
