I heard that it is good to keep your post between 500-1000 words.
Less than 500 isn't good for the search engines and if you have a 1000+ words article it can be pretty annoying for the visitors. I personally hate 1000+ articles.

Sometimes it is required, especially if it is a guide and you are giving step by step details, but if it is a general post about something, such as a site or service, then yes I agree it should not exceed 1000 words at any time.

Well if it is a step-by-step guide for something number of words don't matter because you can't cut the post and exclude some important steps.

You can use more tag for articles more than 1000 words. Infact customised more tags can get you better SEO. But I rarely write articles with 600 or more words. I usually write 400 to 500 words article. May be I should rethink thanks for the headsup. Now I have another thing to worry about

Nope My articles are not 600 Words its rather 400 to 500 words. With use of 2 to 3% keywords gets me very high on SERPs until now as the competition has no clue about SEO
