Hey SEO Bum fam,

I was wondering how privately you guys play online. What I'm talking about here is like revealing your name, address, and that sort. I know that to really succeed, you can't play the game behind a mask all the time. However, revealing so much is not a thing that I do.

You guys?

I don't reveal that much about myself.

I doubt many people that I know online could tell you even my name. I would never give my address out freely, nor my personal email address.

Pictures and things like that i'm not really bothered about showing.

Still, a lot of people online assume a different identity, an online persona if you will. This can be in the form of an internet name (e.g. tsdesigns, static, etc) or just a normal name you like (e.g. Joe Bloggs, Jim Turner, anything that sounds good).

Of course your payment would still have to be sent to your real name, etc.

I don't reveal myself too much. On my blog, people will just know my nationality, university I am attending and my e-mail address.

That is probably all can they know about me.

I reveal a lot . Why should we afraid of someone else ?. Sooner or later there will be Internet transparency the new era of Internet, to get rid of spammers and hackers . The Cyber crime will also decrease a lot then . I hope so If we are the person participating in the online contests we may have to reveal it most often . I think it won't harm you. The forums is a different I usually use nick names in forums.

Well anybody can find my real name. Its on my blog along with my picture. I don't give out real personal things like my middle name, address, passwords.

I reveal my name,and original email ID!! I think most of the internet users a reparanoid of some thing bad happens when they reveal their identity..I dont know even a single way in which one can be secure and private we are all watched and we know it!! there are cctv cameras every at every turn we take!! our phones are tapped, our billing numbers are listed in the banks corridor heheh no really!! but something like that!! our world is becoming less private..open up or you will be depressed

I am not afraid of revealing myself. Since I don't do anything wrong, I guess I will not have any problem by telling people my name and other information about me.

Definitely. However, on the Internet, if you access a website, the biggest information you're giving to them is a mere IP address. If you've got a dynamic IP, in a way, you're not really giving them anything.

Also regarding what COULD happen, I think it is more along the lines of both spam, potential stalking, and threats.

I usually only reveal my first name, birth date, email and ethnicity, if asked.
I would never reveal address last name, etc. That's too personal.

I only reveal my name and e-mail address. I don't think revealing too much of myself online is a good thing to do it. It might be dangerous.

Spam is a major reason why lot of people are afraid to submit their real t name and email . The illegal use of a person identity by identity theft is becoming a common issue on the net . Anyway I am giving real details as far as email address is kept secret .

Yes axn , I still reveal a lot but no forums, communities will keep all your details email address secure as they are aware of spam . That is why I give out my email address to reputed communities like Intel Software community . Hope you now get my point

Mike you are right . Yes they can see our email address . I didn't even think that much

. Anyways we send and receive emails only from genuine users . We personally know them or have contacted them already through skype or other means . Not much a problem of spam occurs there .

Even when sending PayPal payments, you can choose not to reveal your shipping address. Of course, email address, it is unavoidable. However, in that case, I wouldn't care myself too as I would know the other person. Not like I'm throwing away money to random emails.

Do take caution . Never go and fall into traps as their are lot of hackers around. Maker sure you know about the other person to whom you are sending the money or from whom you are receiving the money is a known person . Make a contact well before you proceed towards the transactions . Beware of frauds

It's impossible to know every person. That will make transactions harder. For example, DP, many people don' know each other but still do deals. I guess that's what iTrader is for.
